Sexual Harassment Suit Against CEO Benjamin Wey
In July 2014, Morelli Law Firm PLLC filed a sexual harassment and stalking
lawsuit in New York state court on the behalf of their client Hanna Bouveng.
The suit was against private equity CEO Benjamin Wey, and contended that
Wey had bullied his former intern after she had spurned his sexual advancements.
At trial, a jury awarded Ms. Bouveng $18 million in damages, which was
later reduced to $5.7 million.
Filing Defamation Suit Against CEO Benjamin Wey
The story doesn’t end there. During the lawsuit, Morelli Law Firm
PLLC alleged that Wey engaged in a complete defamation campaign and via
web articles and social media smeared the reputation of the law firm and
its current and former employees.
Some of the defamatory statements made by Wey include accusations that
attorneys at Morelli Law Firm PLLC lied to the courts while representing
Ms. Bouveng, were under criminal investigation, sexually harassed employees,
and were connected to the Klu Klux Klan and Mafia. The firm argues that
Wey continued to defame the law firm even after the jury award.
Morelli has retained the services of Kasowitz Benson Torres Friedman LLP
to pursue relief against Wey.
