Firm Wins Verdict for 30 Yr. Old Student Who Fractured Hip Due to School’s Negligence
A 30-year-old Fordham University student received a payout of $2.6 million after winning a negligence lawsuit. The plaintiff, who weighed 350 pounds and was studying economics and working as a doorman at the time, tripped over a door saddle as he left the campus building, falling and fracturing his hip. His lawyer showed the court that the university had knowledge of the defect as it had existed for at least six months. Damages were awarded for past and future pain and suffering, past wage loss and future medical costs.
