Firm Settles Wrongful Death Suit
A 66-year-old man died after negligent medical staff allowed him to undergo elective surgery without noticing that his vital signs were unstable. Prior to surgery, the man had cardiac ischemia (restriction of blood to his heart) and an evolving heart attack as a result. However medical staff ignored all indications of his condition, failed to perform any other tests, and operated anyway, causing Plaintiff to go into cardiac arrest and die. As a result of their medical malpractice and wrongful death, the medical facility responsible was ordered to pay $900,000 in damages to Plaintiff’s family.
