Firm Secures Verdict for Man’s Double Leg Amputation from Fall onto Subway Track
A 40-year-old man was awarded $30 million in compensation after he fell onto subway tracks and lost both of his legs as a result. He was leaning forward in an attempt to see the train when he lost his balance and fell, knocking himself unconscious. Evidence indicated that other passengers ran to the southern end of the platform and began waving to warn the train operator to stop, but the operator was traveling too fast and ran over both of his legs, causing them to require amputation.
