Employment Discrimination

Manhattan, New York City, New York, New Jersey, and Nationwide

Work is difficult enough without having to worry about the prospect of discrimination. Yet, thousands of people lose their jobs, are not hired, or deal with abuses heaped on them daily at their place of employment. Because prosperity and financial stability is affected in employment discrimination, it can have wide-ranging effects.

Morelli Ratner PC has the experience and skill necessary to make sure you are compensated for the injustice you have suffered while on the job. We have represented clients who have suffered all kinds of employment discrimination including:

Federal and state laws prohibit job discrimination. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employment discrimination based on sex, religion, race, color, or national origin, while the Equal Pay Act of 1963 was put in place to protect both men and women who perform the same type of job from sex-based wage discrimination. These laws are enforced by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Types of Discrimination Practices

There are many ways people have been discriminated against in all aspects of employment. These include:

  • Discriminatory hiring
  • Discriminatory firing
  • Pay reductions
  • Denial of 12-weeks leave for pregnancy or birth
  • Reduction in benefits

If you were let go from your job on the basis of gender, race, or age, you are not only entitled to getting your job back, you are entitled to compensation. You are also protected by federal and state law from retaliation because of filing a discrimination suit against your employer or those you work with.

Everyone deserves respect in the workplace. You are paid to do the job, but that doesn’t include being threatened or torn down because you are taking the paycheck. Morelli Ratner PC has litigated against some of the nation’s largest companies on behalf of individuals who were discriminated against. Denial of promotion or raise based on sex, race, or age is something we take seriously and will pursue aggressively.

If you or a loved one has been the victim of employment discrimination in New York or New Jersey, please contact the experienced employment discrimination attorneys at Morelli Ratner PC. We also serve clients nationwide.
