David Ratner is a graduate of Cornell University and Fordham Law School.
He is admitted to practice law in the United States Supreme Court; United
States Court of Appeals for the Second and Ninth Circuits; United States
District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northern Districts
of New York; the Southern District of Indiana; the Western District of
Michigan; and New York State.
Mr. Ratner is the managing partner of Morelli Ratner Law Firm. As managing
partner, Mr. Ratner is actively involved in all aspects of the firm's
practice. Mr. Ratner has litigated and tried a wide variety of cases during
his 40 years of practicing law, and because of this is able to give the
younger lawyers at the firm the benefit of his vast experience as well
as inculcate them with his aggressive approach to litigation. He accomplishes
this through daily meetings with each lawyer during which cases are reviewed,
goals are set and strategies are laid out. No piece of substantive legal
work leaves the office without Mr. Ratner's review and approval.
Mr. Ratner is deeply involved in the firm's mass tort, class action
and employment practice. He has been appointed to leadership roles on
plaintiff's steering committees in numerous mass tort actions including
Propecia, Chantix, Raptiva, Bextra/Celebrex, and ReNu Contact Lens Solution.
He has travelled around the country in order to obtain the maximum recoveries
for the firm's clients in these and other national multidistrict litigations.
Mr. Ratner has successfully tried cases in all of the firm's practice
areas including personal injury, medical malpractice, employment discrimination,
and product liability.
Mr. Ratner is on the executive board of the
New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) and chairs its Mass Tort and Employment Discrimination committees.
He is also a member of the American Association of Justice (AAJ), the
New York State Bar Association and has been elected to the rank of advocate
in the American Board of Trial Advocates. In addition, he was chosen by
Lawdragon and SuperLawyer as one of the Top 500 Lawyers in the United
States in 2011, and was named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Ratner is also a Dean of the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute.
He plans and presents continuing legal education courses designed to increase
the skill levels of lawyers in New York. Mr. Ratner has also taught trial
practice skills at Fordham Law School's School of Continuing Legal
Education as well as presented classes for the AAJ and NYSTLA. Additionally,
Mr. Ratner is an editor-in-chief of the NYSTLA magazine, "
Bill of Particulars."
